Kim Mertens has been with the Arlington Animal Hospital for 15 years and is our office manager. Kim and her dog Kinsey are a certified team for Therapy Dogs of Vermont! They visit people in nursing and retirement homes, hospitals and even help kids strengthen their reading skills. Kim and Kinsey visit the Elementary kids here in Arlington once a week. Kim also enjoys hiking, snowmobiling, horseback riding and motorcycling... Kim and her husband Scott share their home with Kinsey, 2 cats - Olyve Oyl and Alice and 1 bunny – Clarice.
Les Middleton has been with Arlington Animal Hospital for 4 years and is a very important part of the front desk team. Les has a great sense of humor and helps all of us get through some of those "stressful days". Les is an avid sports fan, and loves to "talk sports". We have even heard him giving golf advice - although we are not sure how good it is. Les is partial to beagles. Les, his wife Maggie and their daughters Sarah and Amanda live in Hoosick Falls New York.
Barb Fortini is a member of our front desk team; Barb joins us for a few days a week and is a wonderful addition to our team. Barb enjoys gardening and crafts. Barb and her husband John enjoy snowmobiling and boating. Barb is an excellent baker and brings us all treats to snack on those long summer days at work.
Gwen Roderick has been with the animal hospital for 6 years and is our surgery technician and technical supervisor. Gwen keeps a careful eye on all of the patients at AAH and helps them be as comfortable as possible during their stay with us. Gwen and her son Max share their home with 2 dogs, 4 cats, a ball python, a bearded dragon and a fish.
Shona Ross has been on our team for 1 year. We are very pleased to have her with us. Shona is kept very busy at AAH assisting the Doctors with appointments and surgery. She was born in England and enjoys traveling to her home to see her family, but also to get her fix of fish 'n chips, haggis and "real" chocolate. She enjoys hiking with her dogs Ava and Magnus, gardening and reading. Shona's recent addition of a cat Zip-it is keeping her very busy.
Marissa Barrett is a valuable member of our technician team, she has been with us for 1 year.You will find her assisting the doctors during your pet's exams. Marissa has recently become a certified nutrition consultant for Hills Pet Nurtition. Marissa enjoys horseback riding, cooking, doing beadwork, and helping her Dad restore cars. Marissa is surrounded by animals at home - they include 1 Great Dane, 1 mixed breed dog, 2 horses, 2 bunnies and 10 chickens.
Deb Roberts is a member of the Arlington community. She normally works with children at Fisher Elementary but is here every now and then filling in at the front desk on Saturdays. Deb has 3 grown kids and lives with her husband Joe. Deb is a wonderful cook, great person and a big help.
